It pretty much ended. At least, in the way the average 21st-century person thinks of the world. A terrorist attack pretty much knocked out most of America's tech, so we've been slowly rebuilding. It was a hit to our pride, since we're not used to being a third-world country, but hey... we're surviving, I guess.
